RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. The event is designed to achieve two main goals: educatethe community about recycling and change individual behavior that will ultimately make a difference in sustainability of the campus and community. More than 532 colleges and universities are participating.

Garbage generated in one day from one campus building will be sorted by students to pull out recyclables.
Last year, in 50 bags of garbage, 30% was recyclable that had been tossed in the trash and was headed to the landfill. This year, the group hopes to see improvement in that rate.
